two tier cake class

This cake class will take you back to basics, and teach you how to bake and decorate an elegant and modern two tier cake. You'll learn a huge amount of new skills, and will make your own cakes, buttercream and chocolate ganache. You'll be able to decorate in any colour scheme you choose, and will learn how to create a stunning spray of foliage using wafer paper to finish your cake off.

This is an ideal introductory class for those who have never covered or stacked cakes before, and will teach you how to get a smooth, professional, and level tiered cake.

At the end of the class, you’ll have a stunning cake to take home and eat with your friends and family, and will have learnt new skills so that you can recreate the cake another time. All equipment and ingredients are provided, and we will be happy to help with any questions at all you may have about cake decorating during the class.

During this class you will learn how to:

  • Bake two perfect sponges in different sizes

  • Scale recipes up and down for different sized tins

  • Make American buttercream 

  • Make chocolate ganache

  • Split, fill and level two tiers of cake

  • Crumbcoat in ganache 

  • Cover in sugarpaste, achieving a smooth professional finish and sharp edges

  • Dowel and stacking tiered cakes

  • Use wafer paper to create sprays of foliage 

  • Cover a cake drum, and add final finishing touches and embellishments, such as ribbons and dusts

  • And more!
